Privacy Policy

Coopair is a couples app with an AI mediator. Here we explain what data we process, why, who we share it with and how you can exercise your rights.

Draft for legal review. Not yet reviewed by a lawyer and may change.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller is Javier Bagdadi, an individual, with address at Av. del Libertador 6199, C1428 Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina (tax ID CUIT 20-33605897-0). In this policy we call them "Coopair" or "we".

For any question about your data, write to us at hola@coopair.app.

2. The key points, in short

  • Your chats are stored encrypted.
  • What you write in your private channel is never shown to your partner.
  • If a message shows a risk, a person (the administrator) may review that excerpt. Every access is audited.
  • Coopair is not therapy nor an emergency service. Dr. Coopair is an AI character, not a doctor.
  • The AI is provided by third parties (Anthropic or OpenAI, depending on the configuration).
  • It is for adults 18 and over only.
  • If you unlink, everything shared by the couple is deleted. You can delete your account whenever you want.

3. What data we process

  • Account: name, email, password (stored as a hash, never in plain text) or your Google account identifier if you sign in with Google; language and country.
  • Couple: who you are linked with, invitations and their status.
  • Content: messages in the shared chat and in your private channel, drafts the AI suggests to you, answers in activities, lists, agreements and their follow-up.
  • AI memory: a couple profile and a private profile of you, which the AI builds from your conversations to give better answers.
  • Subscription: if the couple is premium, who pays, the status and the dates. We do not receive your card details: Apple or Google handle billing.
  • Safety: risk events (level, category and the flagged excerpt) and the log of administrator access.
  • Usage and technical data: ratings (👍/👎), IP address, device type, error logs and, only if you accept, the attribution cookie (see Cookies).

4. How we protect your chats

Messages and AI memories are stored encrypted at rest, with a separate key for each couple. They always travel over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

Each person has a private channel with the AI. The rule is simple and we enforce it on the server, not just in the app: what is private to one person is never shown to the other, nor used as context when the AI replies to the other person or in the shared chat. It is only shared if you decide to share it.

What you write in the shared chat is seen by both members of the couple and by the AI.

5. Human review when there is a risk

Before replying, an automated system assesses whether a message shows a risk (for example, self-harm or violence). If it detects one:

  • the person at risk receives help resources for their country in their private channel;
  • the Coopair administrator (currently Javier Bagdadi) is notified. The notice does not include the text: only the risk level and category;
  • the administrator may review only the flagged excerpt and a few context messages from the same channel, to decide whether any action is needed;
  • every access is audited (who, when and which event);
  • the other member of the couple sees none of this.

Outside these cases, no one on the team reads your chats.

6. Artificial intelligence and providers

Dr. Coopair’s replies are generated by a third-party AI: Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI, depending on the service configuration. To reply, we send them the necessary context: the recent messages of the channel you are talking in and the profiles that apply to that channel. For risk assessment, the text is sent without names.

We use their business API services, whose current terms provide that they do not use that content to train their models and that they retain it for a limited period for safety purposes. [TO BE VERIFIED BY COUNSEL: current terms of each provider.]

Dr. Coopair is a fictional character, an AI: not a doctor, psychologist or professional of any kind, and his replies are not professional advice.

To improve the service, we periodically analyze anonymized conversations (with no names or data that identify you), with the help of AI. No change to how the AI replies is applied without human review. You can object by writing to hola@coopair.app.

7. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

  • Providing the service (account, linking, chats, AI, activities, lists and agreements): performance of the contract you accept when you sign up.
  • Processing sensitive data that may appear in what you write: your explicit consent (see the next section).
  • Safety and risk protocol: protecting people’s life and physical integrity (vital interests) and our legitimate interest in a safe service.
  • Subscription: performance of the contract.
  • Improving the service with anonymized conversations and ratings: legitimate interest. You can object.
  • Attribution (where you came to the website from): your consent in the cookie notice.
  • Complying with legal obligations and defending ourselves against claims.

We do not sell your data or use it for personalized advertising.

8. Sensitive data

Given what couples talk about, your messages may include sensitive data: health (including mental health), sex life, religious beliefs (for example, if you turn on the Bible module) or others. We process it only to provide the service to you, based on your explicit consent, which you give when you sign up and can withdraw at any time by deleting your account.

You are not required to give us sensitive data: you choose what to write.

9. Who we share data with

Only with processors that handle data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:

  • Anthropic and OpenAI: generating replies and assessing risk.
  • [HOSTING PROVIDER TO BE COMPLETED]: servers and database.
  • RevenueCat: managing subscription status.
  • Telegram and [EMAIL PROVIDER TO BE COMPLETED]: notices to the administrator (without the message text) and service emails.
  • Google: only if you sign in with your Google account.

Apple and Google bill the subscription as independent controllers, under their own privacy policies.

We may also disclose data if a competent authority requires it on a legal basis, or if it is necessary to protect someone’s life.

10. International transfers

Some providers (for example, Anthropic and OpenAI) are located in the United States or other countries. When your data leaves your country, we rely on appropriate safeguards: standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authority, applicable adequacy mechanisms or other safeguards required by law.

Argentina has an adequacy decision from the European Union.

11. How long we keep data

  • Account: while it is active.
  • Couple content (chats, memories, lists, agreements, activities): while the couple remains linked. It is deleted on unlinking.
  • Risk-related safety records and access logs: [PERIOD TO BE DEFINED; proposal: 2 years], to handle claims or requests from an authority.
  • Backups: renewed every [PERIOD TO BE DEFINED; proposal: 30 days].
  • Billing data: for as long as tax rules require.

12. What happens when you unlink or delete your account

Unlinking: either of you can do it, without the other’s permission. At that moment we destroy the couple’s key and delete the channels, messages, AI memories, lists, agreements and activities. Without the key, encrypted content can no longer be read. Your account remains and, if you form a new couple, it starts from scratch.

Deleting your account: from the app or from this page, even if you don’t have the app. If you are in a couple, you are unlinked first (with the effect described above) and then we delete your account and data within a maximum of 30 days.

We keep only safety records and data the law requires us to retain, for the periods in section 11. Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription: you do that in the App Store or Google Play.

13. Your rights

You have data subject rights: you can request access to your data, its rectification, updating or erasure, object to certain uses, request portability, restrict processing and withdraw your consent at any time (without affecting processing carried out before).

Write to us at hola@coopair.app from your account email. We reply within the deadlines of the law that applies to you (in Argentina, 10 calendar days for access and 5 business days for rectification or erasure).

14. Argentina (Law 25,326)

We process your data in accordance with Personal Data Protection Law 25,326 and its supplementary regulations. You may exercise the right of access free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless you show a legitimate interest (art. 14, para. 3).

The AGENCIA DE ACCESO A LA INFORMACIÓN PÚBLICA (Agency for Access to Public Information), as the Supervisory Authority of Law No. 25,326, has the power to handle complaints and claims filed by those whose rights are affected by non-compliance with the rules in force on personal data protection.

[PENDING: registration of the database with the National Registry of Databases.]

15. Spain and the European Union (GDPR)

If you live in the European Economic Area, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) applies and, in Spain, Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD). The legal bases are those in section 7; for sensitive data, your explicit consent (art. 9(2)(a) GDPR).

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or the supervisory authority of your country.

[PENDING: appoint a representative in the European Union (art. 27 GDPR), if applicable.]

16. Brazil (LGPD)

If you live in Brazil, Law 13,709/2018 (LGPD) applies. We process sensitive data with your specific and prominent consent (art. 11) and other data under the legal bases of art. 7. You have the data subject rights of art. 18, including information on who we share your data with.

Data protection officer (encarregado): Javier Bagdadi, hola@coopair.app. You can file a complaint with the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).

17. Adults 18 and over only

Coopair is for adults 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we detect or are told that an account belongs to a minor, we delete it.

18. Security

We use encryption in transit and at rest, separate keys per couple, access controls and audit logs. No system is infallible: if an incident affects your data, we will notify you and, where the law requires it, the authority.

19. Cookies

This website uses only what it needs to work: the language cookie and your choice in the cookie notice (stored in your browser).

If you accept in the notice, we also store a first-party attribution cookie (coopair_attr, 30 days) with the campaign (UTM) and the site you came from, with no personal data. It helps us know which channels work and is passed to the web app when you sign up. With "Essential only" it is not stored, and you can change your choice from the page footer.

We do not use advertising or third-party cookies.

20. Changes to this policy

If we change anything important, we will let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. The date of the last update is shown above.
